What we believe

Everything we teach has to come out of the book.

We are an independent Baptist church. We answer to no denominational body, which means we have no one to hide behind either — what we hold, we hold because we believe Scripture says it.

  1. 01

    The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the verbally inspired, preserved Word of God, and that it is the final authority for what we believe and how we live. It is not one voice among several. It is the voice.

    2 Timothy 3:16–17

  2. 02

    God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in every divine perfection.

    Matthew 28:19

  3. 03

    Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, that He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the substitute for sinners, rose bodily from the grave, and is coming again.

    1 Corinthians 15:3–4

  4. 04

    Salvation

We believe salvation is the gift of God, received by grace through faith in Christ alone — not earned by any work, church membership, or good intention, and not something a person can lose by failing.

    Ephesians 2:8–9

  5. 05

    The Church

We believe the local church is a body of baptized believers, independent and self-governing under the headship of Christ, gathered to worship, to teach the Word, and to carry the gospel out.

    Acts 2:41–47

  6. 06

    The Christian life

We believe a believer is meant to grow — in grace, in the knowledge of Christ, and in obedience — and that this happens ordinarily through the Word, prayer, and the company of a local church.

    2 Peter 3:18

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
2 Peter 3:18

Still have a question about any of this?

Honest questions are welcome here, including the awkward ones. Pastor Ruchti would far rather talk it through than have you wonder from a distance.
